Exporting your thunderbird contacts to Gmail

If you like many are making the shift to Gmail or you simply use it to access your emails whilst on the move then you will need to upload your address book.

Saving an address book for Gmail.

Start out in Thunderbird, click Tools, Address Book. Once the Address Book pops up click Tools, Export. A save dialog should popup asking you to for a filename and folder. Look down by the save button, change the format dropdown from LDIF to CSV, name the file myExport.csv and click Save.

How do you import thunderbird contacts into Gmail?

Open up the csv file you created in Thuderbird with Excel (or similar).

Delete all rows EXCEPT rows A, B, E .

Add a blank row to top of sheet and name the columns as follows:

first name last name email adress

Resave the file as a CSV file.

How to import an address book into Gmail

Sign into your Gmail account and hit the Contacts menu item in the lefthand main navigation

Click import on top right of contact area and a new window will open

Browse to file located on your desktop and hit import contacts

If all the initial steps are correct you should now have all of your contacts uploaded to Gmail.

The Launch of 8Creative

We have just launch a new site called 8Creative. The site showcases all the work that we create with our partner Flying Fox Multimedia from our wonderful office here in Bellingen. The sites focus is the work which is why we decided to make the homepage the portfolio.
