Exploring the Mid North Coast’s Heritage
Journeys Mid North Coast offers a deep dive into the region’s heritage, focusing on transport, travel, and migration. The exhibition allows visitors to virtually explore the stories that have shaped the communities along the Mid North Coast. Key sections include:
- Transport Through Time: A historical exploration of how different modes of transportation—from early steamers to modern highways—have connected communities across the region.
- Migration Stories: Narratives highlighting the diverse waves of migration that have contributed to the cultural fabric of the Mid North Coast.
- Communication: Profiles how the art of communication has changed over time
- Entertainment: Showcasing the history of entertainment on the mid north coast
- Trade: From early trade to community building industries
- Tourism: The beginnings of tourism in the area and how it shaped life today.
The Process
The project to many months to come together with each artefact being meticulously photographed at each of the museums across the region.
The back stories to each object were carefully researched and documented and linked to people and places across the mid north coast. The process involved sorting through 1000’s of archive images to place the objects in situe on their timelines and provide context to each exhibit.
Key images were then chosen and “colourised” to bring them to life. These were all subsequently used for postcards and marketing for the project.
